Student life at IIMA has involved academic rigour, extra-curricular activities involving numerous student clubs, festivals, tournaments and events and student exchange programmes. The Finance Club, Consulting Club, IIMACTS (dramatics), Music Club and several others have been active for a long time. The Students’ Affairs Council (SAC) is the key governing body of student affairs and a list of SAC Coordinators over time is available on this link. Batch sizes and photographs can be accessed under each convocation page on this link. CP is an acronym that unites all batches that have studied at IIMA. CP or Class Participation is graded in most courses at IIMA, resulting in ‘Clever CP’, ‘Random CP’, ‘Soulful CP’ and many such inventions.
Students who have graduated from IIMA and many participants of IIMA management development programmes collectively form IIMA’s alumni base of over 30,000 members, governed by the IIMA Alumni Association. More information on alumni activities can be accessed on the alumni website and alumni magazines over several decades can be accessed on this link.
IIMA alumni have excelled in diverse fields. In 2016, as per one article, IIMA accounted for more CEO’s among the companies of the Bombay Stock Exchange-Top 500 list than any other management education institution. IIMA alumni have also received India’s top civilian awards such as the Padma Shri (Kiran Karnik, K Raghavendra Rao, S P Kothari and Sanjeev Bikhchandani) and Padma Bhushan (K V Kamath, C K Prahalad, Mallika Sarabhai and M S Banga)
The IIMA Archives holds a collection of student yearbooks across several batches, the alumni magazines, documents of the Alumni Association from its inception, and oral histories of former students.
