The Armed Forces Programme at IIM Ahmedabad is a unique programme specifically designed with an aim to equip the officers of the armed forces with the knowledge, skills and perspective required for their successful transition into the corporate world.
The six-month residential programme, which has evolved over the years, builds on the participants’ expertise in Operations, Leadership, Human Resource Management, Strategy, Infrastructure Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Organisational Behaviour. The explicitly developed curriculum lays emphasis on key areas such as Corporate Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics, Business Law, Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Financial Decision Making, Healthcare Management, Managerial Computing and Information Systems empowering them with contemporary global management practices.
The programme not only equips them in various management functions areas but also prepares them to work in various sectors such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, etc. This is achieved by offering courses by faculty having extensive experience in related sectors. Guests from the industry add to their knowledge by bringing in industry insights.
Various innovative learning methods and in particular the case study pedagogy of IIM Ahmedabad have exposed the participants to complex real-life business situations covering a wide variety of industries, organizations, and disciplines of management. The participants are exposed to a vibrant academic environment, a well-equipped library, lectures by speakers excelling in diverse fields, industry interaction, and student activities.
This wonderful batch of 54 selected participants comprises a mix of educational, technical backgrounds and expertise. Their experience, leadership skills, maturity, and willingness to adapt will undoubtedly propel them to take on any challenge in the fast-changing business environment. Programme Design
The Indian Armed Forces represent a large group of well-groomed and highly motivated people who are accustomed to working in a system that expects them to set high individual standards and high achievement targets. Officers from the armed forces are known to be self-reliant, innovative, resourceful and highly adaptable and are endowed with courage, motivation, education, selflessness and honesty. They lead and inspire the men working under them to perform extraordinary tasks in challenging situations and under testing/taxing circumstances. The service officers have the requisite skills backed with discipline and a focused approach to lead a productive life.
The Business Management Course at IIM Ahmedabad is a Six months, full time course conducted from October to March every year, specifically designed with an aim to impart the officers of the armed forces with the contemporary global management practices through case-study method of instructions, class room studies, business presentations and Industry visits. The pedagogy and stringent course curriculum brings to fore the analytical & managerial skills which are a pre-requisite for success in corporate career. The officers will add value to any organization and contribute effectively to its productivity & growth.
The Main objectives of the programme are as follows:

Facilitate smooth second career transition into the corporate world.
The programme is divided into three terms and offers courses from many subject areas like Agriculture, Business Communication, Business Research, Decision Making, Economics, Accounting, Finance & Capital Markets, HRM, Information Systems, Legal Aspects of Business, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Operations and Decision Sciences, Strategy, Statistics, etc.

5. What all are included in the fee?
In addition to the fee decided by the Directorate General Resettlement, the participant would be required to pay hostel charges and food charges separately.
6. What is the duration of the programme?
Usually, the programme is offered from October to March every year.
7. What will be the class schedule?
There will be three sessions in the morning and two sessions in the afternoon except on Sundays. The first session will start at 8.45 am and the last session end at 5.20 pm. There will be 20 minutes tea break in between the sessions and 1 hour 20 minutes for lunch.
8. What would be the mode of teaching?
This is a compulsory residential programme and offered on the campus only.
9. What type of accommodation is provided to the participants?
We provide single accommodation for the participants of the programme.
10. Is attendance compulsory for the session?
Yes, attending all sessions are mandatory and leave will be approved in case of sickness, for completion of retirement formalities etc. on receipt of supporting documents.
11. Will I be getting an alumni status after I completed the programme?
The participant can be a member of alumni association of IIMA after paying the necessary membership fee. The rules governing alumni membership can be revised by the institute.
