Professor Dalip Singh Swamy worked in the Economics Area from 16th June 1972 to 1st April 1975.
He left IIMA to join the Delhi University as a Professor of Business Economics.
Prof. Swamy completed his BA in Economics from the Hindu College in New Delhi in 1954. Later, he attended the Delhi School of Economics for an MA in Economics. He then joined Kirori Mal College, New Delhi as a Lecturer from 1956 to 1966. Between 1966 and 1970, Prof. Swamy completed his PhD on the Econometric Model of US Financial Markets from the University of Pennsylvania. Later, he joined the Southern Methodist University as a Visiting Professor in Economics.
Professor Swamy is best known for his books, Multinational Corporations and the World Economy (1980) and The Political Economy of Industrialization: From Self Reliance to Globalization (1994). He also authored a number of published papers including Balanced and Unbalanced Growth-Review of Economics and Statistics (1967) and An Econometric Model of Demand and Supply of British Exports to the US (1966). He was regarded as a brilliant macroeconomist.
