K V Ramani, obtained his Ph.D in Operations Research from Cornell University, USA in 1977, and joined the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA). After retirement from IIMA in 2014, he continued to serve IIMA as an Adjunct Professor till 2018. He keeps himself busy with a couple of consulting assignments on hospital management.
One of his major contributions to IIMA is the establishment of the Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS) in 2003.
He was also a visiting professor in the management schools at Cornell University, USA (1999-2000); Florida International University, USA (1984-86); National University of Singapore (1991-92 and 1995-96) and the Leeds University, UK (2003-2006). He has been a research scholar at the University of Texas, Austin, USA; University of Western Sydney, Australia; Warwick University, UK; and the Helsinki School of Business Administration, Finland
He has over 40 publications in international refereed journals, and authored/co-authored nine books. His recent books on healthcare management include (i) Hospital Management (Pearson education, 2013); Global Public Health Policies (Business expert Press, USA; 2015), and Breast Cancer: Medical treatment, Side Effects and Complementary Therapies (Momentum Press, USA, 2017).
His forthcoming book on "Life Style Behaviour and Chronic diseases" is under review.
Prof Ramani has served as a member on the Board of Governors in a number of institutions including IIMA.
