Ms. Chandrika Tandon
Business Leader, Humanitarian, Grammy-Award Winning Musician
Ms. Chandrika Tandon is a distinguished business leader, humanitarian, and Grammy Award–winning musician. An alumna of Madras Christian College and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (PGP 1975), she began her career at Citibank before joining McKinsey & Company in New York, where she became the firm’s first and youngest female Indian partner. In 1992, she founded Tandon Capital Associates, a management consulting firm that created billions of dollars in market value for clients worldwide.
Ms. Tandon is deeply engaged in higher education and institution-building, particularly in STEM and interdisciplinary learning. She is a Trustee of New York University and NYU Langone Health, and served as Chair of the Board of NYU Tandon School of Engineering, guiding its transformation and growth. She is the Founder and Patron of the Boyd-Tandon School of Business at Madras Christian College, and in 2026, the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence at IIMA was announced. Through education, research, impact, and foundational partnerships, the school aims to prepare leaders, organisations, and society for a future transformed by AI.
Alongside her business and work in education, Ms. Tandon is an internationally acclaimed musician. A passionate advocate of music’s power to uplift and heal, she blends ancient Vedic chants, classical Indian music, and global sounds. She has released seven albums, including Triveni, which won the GRAMMY Award for Best New Age, Chant, or Ambient Album, and Soul Call, which received a Grammy nomination. She has performed at premier venues worldwide, including Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Times Square, and Washington DC’s National Mall, founded community choirs, and currently serves as Artist-in-Residence with the award-winning Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
