IIM Ahmedabad has increased the fees of its two-year post-graduate programmes, including food and agri-business management, for the batch of 2017-19 to Rs 21 lakh. This decision came after a meeting of the institute's board of governors on Saturday.
It is a 7.7% increase over last year's fee which was Rs 19.5 lakh. It also marks back-to-back fee increases on the part of IIM Ahmedabad -- it had hiked fees by 5.4% last year as well.
This fee covers costs associated with tuition, accommodation, course material, library, placement services, and IT resources.
General inflation and Seventh Pay Commission implementation exert an upward Push on cost of programme delivery, said IIMA in a statement. The Institute is committed to striving for efficiency in its operations, it says.
The statement also said that IIMA was the most liberal among Indian management Institutions in financial aid disbursements (in 2016-17, one-third of students received financial aid).
IMA is also committed to ensuring that no capable candidate is denied entry for reason of lacking financial wherewithal, it added.
